Multiligual Learning

This must be one of the dumbest ideas DepED has come up with. Or better yet, the people who have imposed this are half-wits on my dumbest day.

I was watching the news the other day, and some schools in Pangasinan are adapting this policy by teaching in Pangasinense, the local dialect. They claim that this will be more beneficial to the children, since the retention and comprehension is more effective if a local dialect is used as means of instruction.

Ok... Pangasinense is a local dialect... not a language... so how can you justify this methodology by using the Multiligual Learning Policy?

These kids, unknowing victims of stupid law/policy interpreters have a very dark future in the globalization of labor and employment. How can you be globally competitive if your primary means of expression is a local dialect?

Am I looking too far ahead? Hmmm... so what about their competitiveness versus the kids of private schools who learn in English and Filipino? How will these kids qualify for scholarships, quality education, and globally accredited universities if they are so well versed and competitive in a local dialect?

I do not mean to sound like a know-it-all smart ass who finished in a private school. But this is the reality we face... dumbing up the next generation of Filipinos, by short sighted half-wits.

Hmmm... then again, who knows maybe in the next few years, Pangasinense will be the international language... I might be the short sighted asshole after all...

Green Tinted 60's Mind

I was going through my stack of CDs, VCDs, MP3s, and I found Mr. BIG live in Tokyo... Just like opening your first Christmas present... that was the warm happy feeling I had when I saw it.

As most of my friends know, I was always the guitar player type... and Paul Gilbert is one of my favourite guitar players, because he writes, arranges and sings as well.

Of course my sister and I were going gaga over the Glam Rock guys and singing with, then my 8 year old nephew walks in and says... "Why are they all in skinnies and have long hair?"... Hahahaha... come to think of it... if he were a bit older he would say they looked gay... Hahahaha...

I couldn't blame him all the music he knows are from Poison the Well, Walls of Jericho, Kill Switch... and all the post Grunge heavy metal experimental bands.

Hmmm... so in my nephew's eyes, does that mean that Mr. BIG and the rest of the 80s bands are like Pink Floyd and the the rest of the old school bands my Dad used to listen to...

Hmmm... getting older is creeping on me...

Hmmm... What to do?... What to do?...

Tonight I Can Write...

This poem is just playing over and over in my head.
Damn I miss my CD of Il Postino and now I can't find one!!!

Yes... the one with the poetry readings...

What ever happened to it?
As everybody may have experienced, lent it to somebody and got lost somewhere in the passing around from one burner to the next.

I had it on my PC, phone and IPOD... but alas, as any electronic data storage unit, it eventually dies out or gets corrupted by a virus.

Gone are the days where data storage can last hundreds of years; the hieroglyphics in Giza, Mesoamerican glyphs, cave drawings... we may not fully understand them but at least you still see them around...

Hmmm... maybe I should find a way to record from CD to LP vinyls, that way only my friends who have a turntable or a phonograph will most likely have stashed my record.
